How exciting to be doing a commission… but momentarily worrying when the bride’s mother said her outfit was cobalt blue; a lover of dark sapphires, she wanted something to match. But I like a challenge.
She loves my pearls but I ruled them out as although one can get dyed pearls, it’s a bit hit and miss on the colours. And we ruled out gemstones; despite being wonderful, again being natural they have to be supplied in the right colour at the right time.
But good old reliable Swarovski turned up trumps. Although I adore ‘natural’ gems, there comes a time when man-made is required (OK well glass is made from silica which is “earth-made” !)
Together we chose the perfect dark indigo crystal which contrasts fabulously with the silver cable and really complements her deep sapphire bracelet. (A cobalt blue would have been too much).
Then to the style. As on my style-in-many-colours blog post my Swarovski floating fringe necklaces come in at least 4 styles (and probably more one day!). We tried them all and then bonanza… the asymmetric drop one hit the spot. With earrings to match – all lightweight and comfortable to wear, they also tend to stay in place as they stick lightly on one’s glowing skin!
And then of course when it was made, personally fitted her as she was local to me. (I will make to length anyway). Unique, different, very light and comfortable wear on a busy wedding day and handmade with care and love (of course).
My lovely customer is over the moon. Nothing like having something made just for you and just so perfect – so much more cost effective than hours spent searching in vein through shops.
And here she is. Sans hat, but might get a pic of the whole ensemble later!
Thank you! xx

Your client looks fabulous – love the necklace ! Can confirm that the dark indigo swarovski is a fabulous colour. Coincidentally, I’ve just been using it on a navy & white creation and again with a navy and lime combo. Goes very well with the cobalt…..”note to self” !!! x
Thanks Alison – she was overjoyed. Lime too would be a great match. What with 4 styles and what is it now… 70 plus & 70 ABs colours in Swarovskis? ! tons of fun narrowing it down!
